Scarlet O’Hara is a powerhouse singer, songwriter, actress, producer, and engineer. Her songs are nostalgic of the late 70s pop scene and classic rock ballads. She is an old soul stuck in a modern body, writing and producing songs with an intent to keep the classic essence and real authenticity in her work. Her motto = never write anything unless it needs to be said.
Scarlet began her music journey in the realm of classical piano at age 3 in Houston, Texas. Growing up with all kinds of music, Scarlet began adding more instruments and genres into her work. She began writing songs in her teens and later learned to produce her own work. The multi-instrumentalist attended Belmont University to study business and production, leaving with a need to speak and sing and help others through her art.
Her debut single, Doesn’t Always Have to Hurt is a pop anthem reminiscent of ABBA’s danceable hits. It combines 70s elements and modern pop with a voice that is distinctly her own. Lyrically Scarlet illustrates the discontent of her generation with the current dating scene*. “I love putting a melancholy idea to a danceable track, It’s much like what we do in real life – dressing up everything as better than it really is” , Scarlet notes on her favored choice of production. “The song is a silly inner struggle of thinking no one is worth it, until maybe someone is”
The singer-songwriter is currently co-producing her debut album, The Winner, with friend and engineer, Kaitlyn Walker. “Throughout the worst year of my life, these beautiful songs sprouted up,” Scarlet says about the upcoming tracks, “There are no happy songs. Each one was written through moments of pain and sorrow that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy”. The songs on her upcoming album cover everything from heartache and betrayal to health struggles and finding a stronger version of herself. Her 7-piece band is currently playing shows in Nashville and the surrounding areas, from local shows at venues like The End to music festivals.
When she’s not performing or recording, Scarlet can be found cooking with friends or snuggled up with a good book at the park. She is currently based between Nashville and Los Angeles, producing for young artists and composing scores in her free time.
